Technologies of the body: Esoteric anatomy and emotional materiality

This four-week online course explores teachings from early haṭha yoga texts on esoteric anatomy and emotional materiality, drawing links with the felt-experience of practicing these traditions.
What we will cover:
1. Mapping the body—introduction to yogic bodies and principles of the body
2. Materiality and messiness—material bodies, fluid bodies, transcendent bodies
3. Kuṇḍalinī—charting the emergence and understanding of this foundational concept
4. Emotional materiality—how the sources construct affect and ecstasy and what this might mean for embodied experience
All are welcome. The course is intended for all curious practitioners, teachers or researchers, from those new to the study of yoga to the seasoned student. In the course we will set set out key concepts and also dive deep into critical analyses. The course material is research-driven while also drawing on embodied experience.
The course is delivered live online over four weeks through zoom. If you cannot join all of the session you are still welcome to participate. The sessions will be recorded and available for registered participants to review for 30 days after the sessions. The live sessions are complemented with introductory recorded lectures of between 10 and 30 minutes. Slides and further readings are made available after the live sessions. The recordings are not downloadable and will not be for sale after the live iteration of the course.
